I am going down to La Paz at the end of September to fish with Jonathan and Jill.  The question, can I feel relaxed about using their gear (Rods and Reels)?  It would be so much simpler than trying to take tackle with us.

The stuff on the pangas are pretty baic.  Penn 3/0 and 4/0 reels on broomsticks.  Some of the reels might grind a bit :)
We just bring our own stuff and have never had a problem.  the reels get packed in our carry on bags (with line, there is no issues there) and the rods in a SKB rod tube.  No issues what so ever.
If all you bring is one 30lb class rig you are in business.
