Well after less than two years my Pentax W30 stopped working and the "Pentax Authorized" repair shop wants $257 to fix it! A NEW CAMERA doesn't cost $257!!!!!  :smt097

So, of course I'm leery about buying another Pentax after this infuriating situation. I know other people have had great luck with their camera for years, but right now I feel like I just got a $250 $&*&% jammed up my &$$ by Pentax. One day I turned my camera on, it powered up, then it immediately shut itself down. That's all it will ever do now. I've changed the battery and tried everything else I can think of with no luck. The repair shop only described it as a "major malfunction" that would need to be sent to Pentax. At this point I'm telling the repair shop to go F*** themselves. I'll spend the $10 to send it to Pentax myself to see if I get a different story from them.

That's a bummer Jay.  I've got the same model and same age.  Hope Pentax takes care of you. Good luck.

Had the same problem you're having. Had to send the camera to Pentax 5 times before they did anything. Bought an Olympus.

Hmmmm, I'm looking at the Olympus Tough 6000. I just can't see buying another Pentax after this BS. I don't care how much better the picture quality is. The fact is, a broken camera doesn't have any picture quality at all.

Sorry to hear about your camera.  Hope you'll get good response from Pentax.
