Paradise 8/16/09

Fished Paradise from 8-3:30.  Beautiful day - warm, only light occasional wind, breeze picked-up about 3 PM.  Not much company early other than 5-6 sailboats on anchor, and a bunch of tri-athletes in training swimming in the cove.  Saw 2 porpoises, first time I have seen them in the Bay.  Hooked-up with Dustin - good fishing with you. Lots of pelicans and terns diving all day.  Marking tons of bait on the fish finder. Probably 20-25 PBs fishing the area mid-day/afternoon. Drifted shiners all day. Got one bite all day, landed a 26.5" about 2 PM.  Nice day on the water.  

You've put in a lot of time today John. I'm glad you were rewarded with a nice
size halibut.

Pat - PBs seemed slow as well. I saw 1 keeper and 1 shaker netted, and one that got off at the boat.  Talked with guys on 4-5 boats, only 1 had a keeper from the East Bay earlier.  The others had no fish.  From what I saw and heard it seemed slow overall.

   Good one Rob!  Ok, I'll go sturgeon fishing with you again, as long as we mix in some stripers, being tethered in one place on the anchor is tough on the patience!!!!

I couldn't believe all the boats that were raking the place over. It's a wonder there's any halis there... Hope they spawn REAL quick... That place gets pounded!
