so we headed out randall and I around 3 o'clock in the afternoon. we set out to catch some kokenee and maybe a mack or two. we launched from baldwin beach, if your looking for easy access to water this is the spot. Its 7 dollars to park but the water is 50 feet from the parking lot. So we got in the water and of course there were 10 to 15 boaters in our area making for a choppy ride but not too bad we headed west towards emerald bay i was trolling some pink and gold dodgers with a kok assassin lure tipped with corn. about a half mile into the trip about 75 feet down bam got nailed by what i think was a kokenee my pole was bouncing and my drag took off but no sooner did i grab my pole it was gone. We trolled around and around all the way to the point of emerald bay and nothing. So i kinda gave up on the kokenee for the day and started jigging for macks, unfortunately nothing not even a bite from the ever elusive mack.It just wasn't our day out on big blue this time. normally we can at least pull a couple off the bottom but no such luck. we had a good time though it was our first outing since albion so it was just nice to be out on the water. I'm leaving for fort Bragg area Mon 8/17 again I'm taking the fiance out and we are gonna get some abs and feast so if anyone wants to join for a couple days or so let me know pm me sorry for the late notice but its gonna be a good time... also I'm looking for a kayak rack for a car so if anyone has one they would like to get rid of let me know thanks............Tommy(tbone) :smt006

Sounds like fun, Tommy.  I've been going to Baldwin with the family for over 20 years and just started fishing off that beach last year - no hookups for me there yet, but I did catch a mack up at Bliss with Tote a couple years back.  Give up some pics next time please!   :smt001

I have not fished Tahoe from a yak yet,but I have taken a few guided trips on the lake for koks and macs. Both trips we caught fish. One guide told me it is best to fish for the koks before the sun comes up or right at first light. He said after the sun comes up the kok bites dies off, and will then have better luck going for the macs. That is what seemed to happen. We caught koks at first light then nothing so we switched over to the macs and starting hooking up. One trip was in front of Emerald bay, and the other trip we fished off Kings beach. The koks were 40 feet down and that macs were 250 to 400 feet down. Spoon lure with corn for the koks and live minnows for the macs.
