It is not illegal to take eels,fish,snails,urchines and abalone but it needs to be somewhere that is not a protected area and the season open for the take of these shoreline creatures. the hardest part the public may not understand is the need for a fishing license just to pick up things like crabs and shells that may have something living inside :smt003
