Hey Everyone!

I've pretty much been a braid convert for several years now.  I have had great success with powerpro in various sizes, but I've always known it could be better.

I just spooled up with Spiderwire in 30lb and I love it.  Out of the package you can feel the Teflon coating and smoother feel.  It really seems quieter than powerpro because of the coating and finish.

The greatest difference is in the weave i guess.  The powerpro has a noticeable braid, where the spiderwire almost resembles mono.  I did notice the improvement only in 30lb or greater.  The 20lb seemed much more like powerpro.

After 5 or 6 trips the line still feels good.  The color is fading a bit, but that was expected.  Line strength has been flawless.  I have had no breaks and the line seems to take abrasion a bit better than powerpro.

Well, that's my experience with Spiderwire.  I'll see how long it lasts.

hey Tok,
i too have switched to braid and i personally like the spiderwire better than the powerpro i think the coating is definitely the reason for such long life expectancy. i am set up with 40 lb spiderwire and am extremely happy with its performance.
Live life to the fullest!!!! Make the best of each and every day!!

Interesting.
I'll be in the market for some 30lb braid in the next few months. I'll certainly try the spiderwire.
Thanks for the line intel!

I just ordered a 1500 yd spool of Power Pro 50lb test. Should be here in a few days.
I like that it is a bit more supple than Spider Wire.

A long long time ago, when I used to Bass Fish, everyone used spiderwire,

I tried it and hated it, that was in the lighter class line,

I've had 15lb powerpro on my Revo for 2 years with a ton of usage, and It has performed

flawlessly, till recently where I broke off a Hali,  still netted it....  :smt002

will be re spooling with powerpro

I hate Braid but I do use it for rockies, trolling deep and float fishing. I tried power-pro and the original spool I bought is still great 5yrs going on 6. But I bought some more and it was weak, In some sections the line was strong and some sections I could bust it easy with my hands (40lb) so I took it back and bought some suffix and love it It has the closes limpness to the mono that I use and handles great and less wind, tip wraps. I have heard that the Izorline braid is damn good and I am going to try that soon.

I think that limpness is overrated I like a stiffer line except when I need to cast a long ways which has virtually disappeared with Kayak fishing.  I always use Mason Leader for my Salmon Trolling rigs Allen do you still use it.

1500 yds? that seems like alot.  do you break off alot of line? most of my power pro is around 2 to 4 years old and is still in great shape. the color is faded, but i havent even flipped it yet. for my use i think 1500 yds would last me over a decade. i only seem to buy new braid, when i buy a new reel. are you guys spooling up with just braid or do you use a mono backing?  for my fishing i usually back w/ his vis mono and 150 yds of braid.

1500 yds is for gearing up for the Islander.
3 reels, maybe four with 300 yds each. Must have extra on hand in case something takes a long run then breaks off. It's not like I could go run to the store to pick up some more.

I'm a recent convert from mono to braided...I spooled up with 30lb power pro with mono backing with 20lb fluorocarbon leader bout 10ft...

What I've noticed the most is the sensitivity..unfreaking believable!!! I can't believe it took till this yr to try it...

1500 yards, cool how much Tote???

The best I could find was $99.95 and $9.20 to ship. So basically $110 delivered. I will have it tomorrow ( Monday ).

love the power pro braid on my bigger calcuttas, great for jigging in deeper water for rockies and GREAT for sturgeon, I love the quick transfer of the soft bite on the tip of the rod, gives you a chance to grab the rod and set the hook quickly.  I used to use spider wire on my jigging rods and ended up not liking it much, but can't remember why now!

Thats a GREAT deal, compared to what it costs to spool just 1 reel @ OPS!!!!
