Launched at 7:30.  Tide was really low......had to wade out through the muck to get the yaks in enough water to float.  Slippery!!!  The water was calm and there was almost no current.  A beautiful day except neither Dave or I got any fish.  We had short bites on some sardines from the Asian grocery store, but nothing stuck.  We swithched to frozen chovies when the dines were gone but still nothings. Shiners look like the ticket.  I did well last week with them but opted not to pay the price today.  My mistake! $19.50 a dozen seems a little steep but I guess if that's what's the butts are eating...........?  No pictures no fish!

Right on, Martin. Thanks for the report.

I'm 100% positive that you had much more fun than I did today!

Interesting experience regarding bait differences and preference--though we can only take it so far--after all we don't have evidence the Halibut were even there at all and eating anything I suppose. I always thought Halibut were opportunistic feeders like Lingcod and not so particular--given they are ambush predators who hide on the bottom. I figured Shiners were better simply because they are hardier and provide more action for longer. But your experience has me scratching my head.

Less head scratching be it known 'frozen chovies', only action was provided was from a dodger. We can verify that one Butt was in the area, it was pier fisherman caught. Saw items near the bottom on the 'finder' I perceived to be fish there, but off the bite. Weather was too good. Even removed my shirt and let the sun have its way. Good day Great buddy whats not to like. dave...
