Not a 1st hand report but there's been good striper action around angel island and I believe alcatraz also

following the tide runs it could make for a fun day in the bay

the bay has been extremely windy this week-observed while driving over it, not on it.  we need a proven long distance paddler to ply the waters when they calm down :smt002

Racoon Straights and inside the gate have been harsh in the afternoon lately!  I would hate to be out in that when the wind in blowing in and the tides are going out.  My 36 foot Grand Banks was taking breakers over the bow the other day coming back to Sausalito from the city!

Hi bluekayak!  :smt006 I just get the vibe that you're a hardcore paddler. After seeing your reports it sounds like you got it down pat. What kind of kayak do YOU ride on to take on a lot of miles? Just curious as to what it even takes to get to that level. Just like to pick the brains of the pro's. Thanks.

I have been using the Ruby Port for bay cruises and have not been out on the ocean all that much lately!  I have it in a slip very near the Spinaker restaurant in Sausalito, and lately I have not seen many days where it looked like a good idea to get to AI and come back later.  I know that usually it dies down near sundown, but the afternoons have been brutal!

I fished there comfy in my 36 ft Albin Saturday. Yakkable? Hmmm, multiple Charter boats and multiple PBs running hard, all fisihng the same 1/4 mile patch, 18 kts wind, tide, Ferries barreling right through the fishing pack throwing truly inspiring wakes, Rogue sailboats.... I'm in!
