polepole and I fished off of my friends boat today. 50 miles out to the pioneer. We got 15 fish for the 5 of us to 20ish pounds. All but one fish, which i managed to get on my brand new Avet SX, were troll fish. The same little XRap magnum Deepdiver 15 that i took that big ole striper on was hot (when i eventually decided to send it back). On one stop we did have them boiling off the stern on a mix of bought jumbo dines and some very lost topsmelt I netted up earlier...for those interested all the fish came in the area of 18/18............

Congrat on the Tuna catches.  Thank you for the report Sharky.  Are you going to post the pictures later?  Don't tell me no one brought a camera!

Sharky, can I borrow your Rapala for a week or two :smt003.    Nice to see you and Polepole get into the fish, especially the on the slide. We were at fifty by thirty and only managed a double all day. We left thursdays spot to chase radio fish.... wrong move on our part. Congratulations Again.

Thanks Sharky for the invite.  You've been asking me to go on this ride for at least 4 years now, maybe longer.  Finally we were able to hook up.

Nice group to get out with.  A day full of the usual fish smack talk backed up with some decent action.  Sharky and Captain Doug bicker like husband and wife.  It's all good because they are like a well oiled team.  John had too much to drink the night before and kindly chummed some fish up for the first bite ... starting the day with a double.  It turned into one of those days of a steady pick of singles before ending the day with another double.  Good thing we had Keven "The Man" onboard calling out the numbers to everyone and his brother.  We had one stop in which another boat drive up to 100 yards off our stern and parked it on our chum lines.  WTF ... it's a big ocean out there.  Hah!!!  I had a great time just getting back on the tuna grounds after a 3 year hiatus.  We had one stop where we got them boiling a bit, but only managed Sharky's fish on that one.  I had one other swimbait bite on the slide but she came unbuttoned pretty quickly.  I at first thought I was tangled with the troll fish so didn't set the hook.  By the time I realized I wasn't it was too late.  I got to get me some of those XRap deep diver 15's.  Sharky through it out on a whim and it produced well, trolls well at higher speeds, and can be set farther back (under the feathers) than the larger ones.

Left the harbor around 5AM after a snafu at the bait barge, back to the harbor at 8PM.  Looong day on the water.

Heading back out to the bluewater on Saturday hoping to repeat ...

-Allen
