I decided to install a backing plate to my two Scotty flush mounts I have next to my rod pod to stiffen up that area. I cut a cardboard template out, then transferred that to a 1/8” aluminum plate, witch I cut it out on a ban saw. Then I held it in place to mark the two  1 3/8” holes, drilled and re-installed the Scotty flush mounts with the backing plate with Goop for a good seal. I am very happy with the results I don’t think it looks to goody :smt003. Just thought I would share with you all :smt006.

After reading your reply to Bassmanden I thought I had better get off my butt and get to work on it. Thanks for the inspiration :smt006.

Fyi, Tap Plastics stores usually have a seconds/discards bin with scrap pieces of all sizes cost a couple of bucks. I have seen 1/2/3 by 1/2 pieces of varying materials and thickness, color, etc. there. It's my goto place for plastic.

Pat R. , Nice. Good idea. When I add two small threaded Scotty mounts between my sonar shield and rod pod on my T-15, I'll put in a plate of thick plastic to stiffen. Maybe I'll cut some rubber gaskets for the top section as well to give a good seal if that doesn't cause any pay in the mounting (it might).
