Don't know about the flatties, but the swells look like they are going to be 10-14 feet. Looks a little high. Good luck out there.

Head to the south part of the cove where it's more sandy.  SteveS told me that his brother hooked into a the car hood size halibut there several years ago.  It busted the line before they could gaff it.

While I've only managed sand dabs, I understand that there are halibut along that sand as well.  Just stay inside those first rocks and cruise the sand.
Heck, with the forecast, that will be about all you will want to do....... :smt009
Pat.........maybe painting a bedroom this weekend instead

yah that big sucker was a hitchhiker-- biggest hallie i've ever seen in real life.  Bro thought he had some huge kelp stringer, I thought it was a seal at first, got it to within 5 or so feet of hte kayak before it turned and ran.  was on the south side of the cove.

What time of year was the big fish?  I must admit to a bit of frustration that I've yet to find one this year.  I've tried that sand in front of Carmel beach, I've tried in front of the hotel there in Seaside (clearly Joel "took" MY fish) and I've tried north of Moss Landing......... :smt017

It's been a pretty slow year for halibut.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Thanks Steve.  I clearly must improve my sabiki technique.  I got a new size 12 rig this evening.  I suppose I should give up for the year, but it keeps me from annoying my family...........y'know???..... :smt003
