I have a Uniden Atlantis 250 and its almost brand new and has a fresh charge on the battery. I used it yesterday without any problems, turned it off at the beach, took it home, rinsed it off and turned it on again and the only thing it would do was make a loud tone and flash ch. 16 and TX at the same time. I disconnected the battery and tried again, same problem, and no other functions work. the manuel seems to say that when the PTT button is held down for 5 min, this would happen, but when the button is released, this should stop. It could be a problem with the control panel and some bad contacts, but I don't want to take it apart until I know if I have to warranty it or not (I've already contacted Uniden but have not heard back yet). let me know if you have any advice, it would be a huge help since its such a bummer to be out of a radio with ocean fishing hot all over. thanks---chris

let me know if you have any advice,

sell or return it and buy a standard/horizon you should never have to worry about your Radio
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Or an Icom--that's what the Coast Guard uses--I've had mine for 5 years and it has never failed even after soaking in salt for half an hour during BCU trainings. Costs a little more, but worth it.

I would give Uniden a call and see what they say.  It doesn't sound like it's very water proof.

This is great advise. I've had a SH hx471s for two years and it has never let me down. Kinda pricey for some added bells/whistles but I like having am/fm radio on my vhf. I can listen to ball games while on the water :)
