I asked at Monterey Bay Kayaks for advice on fixing and they told me it is very hard to fix a hole there. Anyone have any ideas?

Yep.  Let me do a little more research.

While pumping out the hole I noticed it on one of my scupper hold supports. It looks like a pinprick hole, as if someone poked IN though the scupper hole.
Allen, have you pissed off your girlfriend lately?

If no one comes with a good permanent fix, I bet you could Goop, epoxy, or plastic weld a small piece of PVC tube in the scupper hole.  The PVC tube should minimize flexing in that area.

It was way nice having a half dozen friends fishing in our backyard.  I still didn't manage to find that elusive 2005 halibut, but we went home with a nice bucket o'sanddabs......... :smt036

Nice reports! It really makes me jones for that area, especially since my dad lives just a couple miles away. He's told me that people will sometimes surf at Lover's Point in a big NW swell. I don't know what would happen there at the east end of the marina.

Mooch, I think the Candlefish refers to the Eulachon, which is a popular forage fish in more northern waters. Still the the lure is indeed representative of the lizardfish in your photo.

There are some other small marine fish up here known (commonly) as candlefish. They bury themselves, head first, in sand bottoms and salmon pluck them out of the sand. I've seen photos of kings with scrape marks on their cheeks. BTW- the natives apparently made some mean fish oil sauces out of the eulachons. I recall that early white explorers complained about the stink. But, what did they know?  Lewis and Clark complained about eating salmon the winter they spent at the mouth of the Columbia- they preferred dog! :smt104

Regarding the fixing of holes...
I've got a Necky, a couple years old. The hull (rear keel) ultimately, just wore through. Got little support from the retailers, other than, "Our guy
can patch that up, maybe 3hrs. work @ $50 per hr. However, he's really
busy, blah, blah... Might get to it in a couple weeks..." No help there...
A buddy suggested I just melt any heavy plastic w/flame. A couple drips
@ a time, over and around hole. Just build it back up. But, really needs
to cool and harden before the next couple drops. Get it too hot and the
hole just gets larger. Then, fine grain sand paper, if needed.
It's been 4 months w/no problems and I haven't been stuck on the
beach waiting to spend tons of cash.
