Al - that is a sexy looking ride.  :smt007

Ok here are some pics

#1 - one of several small browns caught on the infamous JMairey bass tube all released except for 1
#2 - E2G demonstrating the "big guy" rescue
#3 - pan fried sand dabs with baby bock choy and shitake mushrooms served on cous cous  :fat

BTW, anyone who fishes on the bay, delta or ocean should take this class or a similar class. Having the right equipment is important but having the skills, knowlege and good judgement are even more important, IMHO. Enough said, let's go fishing.  :smt006

Pat, I'm glad you managed to get the surfing pics before I went down  :smt004, as well as after! :smt044 one of the great thing about this class was that there was no shame in crashing or taking a swim--all another occasion to practice self rescue.  :smt045

Ms AlgieSwift:

your husbands surf ride was truly epic.  He was gliding along, focused and looking really pro.  The ride was over, you could see him relax.  Thats when he crashed.  So technically, it was a done ride, then carelessness :smt003

Hello all, just wanted to congratulate everyone on a great surf launch class.  I was there with Pat R. ( my dad) and was pleased to learn all the info that was given out.  On a special note I give my dad the golden trophy for not crashing once during the launches and landing through the surf, way to go dad.

On Sun my dad and I went out for sand dabs and rock fish.  Unfortunately the ocean was not cooperating, and was a bit big for my first time out forcing us back in early.  I was able to land my fist rock fish and am looking forward to doing it again.

All and all had a great time

Congratulations to MBK for offering it and to all who took it. Looks like a very worthwhile class--MBK is a well-run shop. I'll keep my eye out for the next one--can't hurt to get more practice and advice.

Another question: wasn't the bay North of the launch at the beach BY MBK scheduled to be part of the new protected area off limits to fishing. Same since it has been a good place--I remember Da Mooch getting a nice Halibut the first time I fished there with SCAllen's class--long time a go now.

That area was thankfully not chosen as an MPA.Though Hopkins and Lovers to the SW of the shop are MPA.North of the shop is good hali territory.
