The Surf to Summit GTS series go up fairly high .... http://www.surftosummit.com/gts-kayak-seats-c-299.html?osCsid=a7937c8a0416aa366862de3db1d58c17

I have the one on the bottom (gray center section) and love it. Plenty of support and easy to adjust.

Which of the two is taller?  Would it work on the Hobie?  Don't see why not.

The hydration model looks pretty cool.   Avoid all those plastic bottles rolling around.

Seems like the Elite is more like a "sports car seat."  The top one seems more comfortable.  Some sports car seats are not that comfortable.  If you are adding a cushion that tells me s/t.

The seat I use is one Hobie made a LONG time ago. It had the tallest back of any seat on the market at the time. I removed the pegs from the seat and used it on my T16.
There is almost zero padding in the seat area but I have not found a more supportive backrest. For whatever reason this one fits me just right, and I have tried several different seats. The only one I like better is the Crazy Creek II but it doesn't have the pegs in the seat to fit the Hobie. Believe me, I tried.
That's why I use the extra pad to sit on.

My bitch about the newest Surf to Summit seat$s is the seat base is thick enough to seriously affect your COG.  I use the Airwave GTS and I love it.  The air cushion is thin, yet neve bottoms out.  The early versions had major reliability issues, but the new ones are great.

Wow that is a good point.  Hmmm.  COG.  Maybe I will get the other one with the thinner pad.  Even though these guys are adding pads onto them so doesn't that give you the same COG?  I wonder if it stays down as well as Hobie seats since it probably does not have the same pegs that go in the holes.

The Expedition is IMHO too thick for most yaks...the GTS is a classic and a good seat, and about as thick as the home brew combo.  I don't care for the ridges on the seat bottom of the GTS though.

Hey peteb, I just bought one of those Surf To Summit seat (expedition) for my
Hobie Outback. It took a while for me to figure out how to properly adjust the
seat on the yak. It wasn't as secure compare to the original seat that came with
the boat. So I have not used it. SBD was right about the COG. With the expedition
seat on the Outback, I felt really high.

I've been using the Seaairsports Pacific Angler seat for 4 years now with all my kayaks. It has a 20" highback and an inflatable seat for comfort.

I can paddle around for 8 to 10 hours and feel fine.

Did you have to order it or did you get it locally?  I'm Campbell as well.  Thanks!

I had to order it. I got it from Kayak Sportfishing. They were horrible. Told me three times that is was on the way and I kept waiting. I looked at the UPS tracking and can see that it went out after my third call/email. It took 4 weeks for me to get it. I was gonna call and yell but I figured I'd just never buy from them again and not recommend them to others. (I hope they are not one of our sponsors. If so, I hope they read this post and make some changes). I think hook1 carries them (for cheaper) so I'd get it from them. They are GREAT! use hook108 and you'll 10% off.
