I'm new to kayak fishing and have been really enjoying reading all the great info on this site...haven't posted much of anything yet, because of my lack of experience and because I have been able to find answers to most of my noob questions in previous threads...

I just bought my first Kayak a month or so ago (an Ocean Kayak BigYak Angler) and have been out twice so far (06/27 and 07/03)...just worked the edges of the kelp in front of Capitola, caught plenty of small RockFish and brought home a hand-full of the less pinner ones each day... :smt001

I live right up the hill from Capitola Village and have been able to just cart my kayak down from my house to avoid having to deal with driving and parking...

Here are a few pics of my first two trips...nothing too exciting, but my wife and I love eating fresh RockFish so she is always happy when I bring home something for the grease...When she's happy my life is a lot easier...What's the term? WAF?  ;  )  :smt044

Anyway, thank you all for the great site and all the great info...
 :smt006

Sincerely,
Jim

You already got a sticker, bro.

You're well on your way....

Nice work jim

you are well on your way, and nice work om the recon, there is a wealth of info here and it's nice to see someone use it, 14 posts a week about what kayak to buy gets redundant. Everyone here has asked every question possible sometime or other and it just takes a little research to get your answer.

I live in the area as does porky, let's get another local trip going soon.

Stoggie

Jim

Thanks Porky...if you see a guy pulling his kayak through the Village/back up the hill towards Gayle's that's probably me...

I also have a green garden cart that I have tricked out with rod-holders etc that I use to haul all my stuff down to the wharf when I am going out on the rental skiffs...

Not so bad walking back through the Village with the cart when you got some fish to show-off, but no fun when the cooler is empty... :smt002

Anyway, looking forward to meeting/fishing with you guys soon.

Sincerely,
Jim
