Washed up or dropped by Diver

Sunday's cruise set us up for a jump to Point Arena. We reached a sheltered inlet near Elk as tide fell -- to find a gift from the sea. An 8-inch live abalone had washed ashore.

Poor guy must have thought his problems couldn't get worse. But we ate him for lunch.

When we launched at Stillwater cove a couple months ago there was a live abalone sitting on the beach in the surf line as well... was just under 7".  

I put him back on a rock in the intertidal zone...  kinda odd though.
