Power Pro to Mono: What Knot?

I've posted this before and I've forgotten the knot I used, can't find the link, etc...Anyone have a link showing the knot for tying mono to Power Pro? Thanks again!

There is a good description in vic dunaway's book, bait rigs and tackle.

I have only joined 5-15lb mono to 40lb mono with this, have not
yet tried spectra to mono.

I also have not tried tying this on the yak, I have had to spend some
effort cinching the knot down carefully to get it to look right.

Jim Sammons, the so cal guide, uses this for his spectra to mono junction.

Make sure you have the spectra wet so it slides on the mono a little better, but try to have the mono dry as I have head it "expands" when wet.

When tying PowerPro...

- Pass your line through the eye of your tackle twice, if possible.

- Double your line before tying, if your tackle allows, to create a larger, stronger knot.

- Don't use clinch knots, which slip on PowerPro's slick surface.

- Use a gloved hand, dowel, or soft-jawed pliers to avoid injury when tightening knots.

- Moisten your knot before tightening.

I torch the end of my power pro to keep it from getting frayed - especially when I tie it directly to mono using a uni to uni knot.

I use my car cigarette lighter to melt the tip but Bass Pro shops sells this:

i use uni-to-uni for mono to spectra- IF the mono is about 20lbs or less.

ditto on chuckE's comment on wetting-- especially important if you're doing spectra to fluoro

Reverse Albright or Albright.....never had a failure! If you buy a 150 or 300 yard spool there is a sheet included with directions for each suitable knot.

Assuming double spectra has a less diameter than a single mono.

First I make a Bimini twist on the Spectra.  This will make a double line that I can use as a single.

Second make an Albright Special on the mono using the double spectra line.

From what I have heard from tackle shops that make knots all the time.  Don't use a uni-to-uni knot on spectra to mono.  It will slip.

Another thing you can try create a Bimini twist on each line and connect them using a cat's paw.

The variant of the uni that I use is sometimes called the 'shelton speed knot' - but really just a hangman's noose.  I use it for 90% of my tying and it's a very solid knot with any diameter spectra, mono, or wire.   Used uni-uni fashion with mono and spectra, it doesn't slip or cut the mono.

If you're rigging heavy outfits, then the bimini/albright combo works out well, but IMO it is way overkill for what we are talking about here.

Yeah, but it is really cool to show off to your friends.  Spend the time to learn them, they are excellent knots.

Bimini twist looks like the express lane to puketown for a kayaker.  A double surgeons loop is good enough with light line, especially spectra.

There's something to be said for big snap swivels too, I often set one up on the rod when I go out, but just do the uni-uni thing if I have to retie on the water.  I keep a diver/apex rigged so that I can be doing the salmon thing asap if I find a bait ball, having a snap swivel eliminates all tying for that switch.
