Here's a shot of the butter knife jig, no paint, just a hole, split ring, swivel and a hook. The hole is a bitch. It drops like an arrow and flutters on the way up, with fish attached.

Hey guitarzan,
It's a little difficult to tell from the butter knife jig photo, but is the hole and split ring in the blade just above the handle?
Yup. The hole is just above the handle, by the edge, and I keep the blade on, Ive got about 30 more to drill out for the season.

Ben,

Hopefully you have a drill press, as drilling stainless with a hand drill is a mofo. The idea is to keep the speed down and feed pressure up, as stainless will work harden on you and become even tougher to cut. I also suggest that you use real cutting fluid, and don't be stingy with it.

Regards,
Scott

No problem, AbMan & it was nice to meeting you! :smt006
yeah, I got both ride back by Ed's nice M3 (sorry I made the little mess...).  & got ride down by solsrf1's nice Nissan Titan's truck bed.  (Thank you, guys & nice to meeting you guys too! :smt006)  I was on the hill side coming down holding on to his truck bed and it was cool as I was on the roller coaster ride!
NCKA rocks!!! :metal

Nice haul Naoaki. I only got to hear your voice while fishing but I did not know
where you guys were.

Jedmo
Thanks, Jedmo!
We're first ones in the water.  We headed to north & deeper water.  got chased by pack of sea lions, so went more north & deeper water.  by the time we came back to shallow water, most people already went in...

so I heard you went to try to get some Abs.  Did you get them?

Hey Naoaki, Merv(amphibian) and I stayed around the cove at Ft Ross. We did not really venture to far because it was my first attempt to dive for abs. In other
words, I was too chicken to go any deeper than chest high water. :smt009
Merv actually did not see any abs around the area. One fella that was walking
around the shore had said, that the place where we were has been picked clean
already. Congrats on the abs BTW.

Dustin, sorry about the weird angle shot dude. The fish was much bigger than the pic.
shot. I promise to take a better one next time. :smt002

See you OTW soon,
Jedmo

Your right, stainless is a mf to drill, but Ive got it figured out now. First I lay the knife over the camp stove flame for 30 seconds, the "target" spot is red hot but the handle is still cool to touch, pick it up and clamp it to a scrap of wood on the tailgate, dip the drill bit in motor oil, drill slow, it takes about 20 seconds to drill thru now. Carefull with the handle, by now its getting hot, just drop it in water, put a big split ring, swivel and a good hook and a $14-$20 price tag on it and its just as good as the ones in the store.
