Would be cool to catch one of these from a kayak...

Big red with a fat lip

Cold water fish jail

I gave the BSB the predator stare and she took off

She came back and scowled as if to say,"You still here?"

Never before landed from a kayak in the lower 48....

I don't think they allow kayak fishing in the aquarium  :smt003

That is funny.  Actually, true story, but I have actually GIVEN fish to the aquarium when I was a kid.  I came by with a 3# LMB in a big garbage can full of water and they took it!  My father joked that we should drop it in the gator pen to give it a workout first.
I used to go there and point it out to my buddies.  It had a funky lip that I could recognize.

Dr McCosker is a cool guy and I actually fished Putah creek with him one time.   Good fly-fisherman.

Loved the old one,  not so much with the new venue....

I'm with ya Peteb,  I was really into reptiles as a kid, and this place was Nirvana,

I once caught a Black and yellow alligator lizard, very kool, Gave it to the Aquarium,

it died a few months later.  The Koolest thing was doing a Medical standby while a Movie was being made there,

I got to walk thru the whole aquarium at night with no one around in the dark....

 Totally Awesome.....

He was my childhood hero, right up there with Chief Brody.

Actually, another true story: years after I stopped being a junior member of the Academy I was in high school in about 1980 and they caught that white shark and dropped it into the Roundabout (another serious loss from the old aquarium... what does the rain forest have to do with NorCal anyway??)   Well, if anyone remembers, it was a HUGE deal.  Everyone wanted to see the shark.  Well, me and a couple of buddies bullshat the rent-a-cop and got behind the scenes at the Roundabout by claiming we were all junior members and Dr. McCosker was waiting for us up there.  (ho ho ho.)  The poor shleps from Cleveland waiting in line started to holler seeing five high-schoolers disappear behind the VIP door with shit-eating grins but it was too late.

So there we are properly - er - prepared mentally for this experience, walking around with the VIPs and the press watching that huge fish swim around the Roundabout.  Awesome.  Meanwhile there is 15-hour line for normal people snaking out the door and way off into the distance.

great memories from that place.
