Somehow left the camera at home - and it's too bad because I caught some nice blacks! They were liking a small white/chart clouser that I tied off an article in California Fly Fisher. I was using lead core line on an 8 wt rod. Just worked my out among the kelp fronds until I found some willing takers. Deeper water seemed to be better. Ended the day with 16. 14 of them were good sized blacks, largest nearly 4 lbs. Also one big olive & one little blue.

Conditions were terrific - very low swell & little wind. Quite a few power boats out, some of them packed with fishermen. Saw some of them catching some fish too.

First time I've ever caught anything either in the harbor or outside, and it was a pretty darn good day to boot.  :smt007

Hell Yeah! Any day OTW is a great day indeed...

I've never tied clousers, but have fly fished with them...Fly guy I like that...

few years ago I was float tubing @ van damnn using an 8wt floating with a sink tip and hooking some fish...DFG guy starts talking to me on the beach and was saying "way out by those rocks"pointing to the obvious yak spot, "using swimbaits"... nice guy...

Thanks for the report...I love blue fillets in white wine sauce....ummmm
It's all about Today!!! Because who knows what tomorrow will bring... so Better get OTW n GetSome

Man that sounds like fun, I may have to buy me a flyrod. I have more fun when I use my little spinner rod instead of my ocean rod. I can only imagine a flyrod would add even more to the fun factor. I met a fly fisherman in capitola that was fishing for stripers and took some time to clean up the line on his reel. Well guess what, his streamer sank and he ended up with a nice keeper halibut. Who would have thought fly fishing could be so productive.
