Took a friend out for the first time fishing a yak.  We wanted crappie, but they were a no go.  She was pounding schoolie stripers though with her 5' uglystick with 8# test.  Her reel was screamin.  I kept two of her stripers, and for me, I landed one diaper striper, about 10".  I told her, it is not the size that matters! :smt044

That's awesome, Montana.    First time out on a yak, and nailing stripers on light action gear!   Doesnt get much better than that.   Your last comment cracked me up.

Are those fish there all year?

I was just up in Lincoln/Rocklin for the weekend.  On the drive up from the Bay Area, I passed Sacramento and the river and thought about your striper reports, wondering if i was looking at the same waters where you fished.

Way to get them!

It's nice of you to introduce friends to kayak fishing.  It must be beginner luck, works like a charm  :smt003  Thanks for the report.

The port is off Jefferson off of 50, you saw the sac river.  We were drifting large and jumbo minnows.  They would slam it, and then like a minute later, come back and inhale the minnow, so you had to be patient.  I never got a single bite! She was only ten feet away from me, it was amazing.  Now, she has to take me to her hot spot, so I can out fish her.  What is fair is fair, right?
