Well, super stoked, got off work early to pick up my new T-13 yak, my 1st boat..

Got home to SC, picked up my yak and PFD, and flush mount rod holders.

BIG plans to fish tomorrow morning...

Well....

They forgot to give me the dam seat back!!! Errrr... Being a noob and totally stoked on my boat, i didnt even think to check, I thought maybe it was in the storage hatch but NO!!!! Bummed.

Also, got flush mount rod holders.. Did a test run on a piece of wood, the flush mount down tube fit in the hole, but due to the angle of the down tube, it wouldnt sit flush....

What size hole to i need to drill? Bigger i am guessing, but how much bigger? Im sooo glad i did a test drill on an old piece of wood...

Also, how are you guys keeping you plano 1612 boxes strapped down, with the stock bungie?

And lastly, i got PVC tubes to mount to the plano box for rod hoders, how short did you got the PVC tubes, theres a flange on the lid that make it not sit flush against the box????

HELP, and thanks in advance, you guys are great! Hope to get out sunday if i get a fricken seat!!!!

On those rod holders you may not want to just go bigger but instead make them oval shape to allow the flange to sit evenly and flush on the hull.

If you just drill it bigger you may end up with a hole so big the the edges of the hole will be wider than part of the flange.

Keep practicing on the wood til you're sure, use something like 1/8" paneling so the it's thickness is somewhat like the hull material.

As far as forgetting the seat, that sucks,  If you're going out of SC you may be able to rent a seat for a couple bucks from the shop just above the harbor, can't remember the name.

Enjoy

On the flush mount- Get a piece of cardboard, like from a shoe box, cut the hole in that.
Make it so it slides up the flush mount tube and fits snug around the tube and against the bottom of it. You can also poke a hole where the screw mounts go. Trace around the outer edge of the mount and cut around that.
Once you have accomplished that you have a perfect template to use for outlining the hole on your kayak.
Make sure you take into account the angle of the mount before making a cut in the kayak.
The last thing you want is to cut the hole only to find out that because of the angle of the mount it won't go in the way you thought. Plan ahead.
Whatever info you are looking for just put it in the 'search' on the general forum page and you will find what you are looking for.

Sounds like you got the advice on the mounts....

For the Plano. Below are a few pics (sorry the first one is a bit blurry). Basically, I added a tab to each side of the box and attached them via a small clip to the seat strap. The are there in case I roll the boat. As for the tubes I made them long enough to clear the top of the box and just short of the bottom. I added a stack of washers to the top bolt to angle it out just enough so the lid will open/close w/o hanging up. Hope the pics help

A simple strip of wood would work in place of the washers. The clips are just cheap .99 ones from Home Depot. They look tougher then they are. With small ones the clip opening is just big enough to slip over the rod or reel handle which makes you have to focus on attaching/detaching vs. fighting the fish.

THANKS GUYS..

Got my seat.

Used the cardboard trick, and mounted my flush mounts with rivets and goop, NO PROBLEM! Done.

Mounted PVC tubes on my Plano. Earlier, I read about a guy who snagged his wifes cooking board and cut it up, she never knew. Well I did the same, and that was the backing for my PVC rod holders mounted to the box. DONE

Again, thx to all.
