I'm heading out of the harbor today at 12:30. I Will be targeting halis with dead anchovies on halibut rigs and white seabass or lings in the kelp with swim baits either in front of oniels or the light house. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Going kayaking with a non-fishing friend :smt102 Last time we went out he rolled his sit-inside kayak! :smt100 It was completely submerged by the time i got to him and he was trying to keep it from sinking to the bottom. Some how i managed to pull it from the water and we drained it with a water bottle!

Blown Out! White Caps every where......next time.

Thanks for sharing your experience.  Wonder how long did it take to drain all the water with a bottle from a fully submerged SIK?  :smt003 Like EWB said, tell him to get a pump (and maybe one for you too)  :smt001

Bulkheads are usually standard with sit-insides. Some models like the Prijon calabria dont though and to go out without some floatation in a non bulkheaded kayak is foolish and deadly. At least with a SOT you have some time to turn it over. Anyway good luck I hope you are the next big halibut slayer.

Don't know what I was thinking when I posted that first reply....I DO work right next to the harbor and the eucalyptus was moving big time. I should have known you'd have no chance but to throw in the towel. Sorry to hear that Bambora.

Better luck next time  :smt006

I was out there today at noon also and quit after one drift. Too much hassle.Thought yesterdays wind was the front coming in and today would be moderate. Bad guess.

After gaffing the blow up bulkhead float in my sit-in, I recommend a mesh bag full of pool noodle bits, or other soft foam stuff secured to inside of the boat.  Then test it in shallow water to make sure the floaty stuff makes the whole rig float.
