Fish traps Rule...

Went to my "Secret place" again Dove for 2 hrs looking for some big Abs.  got a limit of chunky 8's but no bigguns... paddled out to the spot I've seen people fishing and theres a guy there hooking fish... I asked what he was using "Fish traps" would you like to try one? Hell Yeah! first cast 5lb red, 4Th drift bout the same cap...lost 5 large...

My dive partner is just learning ocean fishing...told him about get to the bottom pull up a few turns, let it back down, reel it backup... well he lost all his stuff, didn't ask if he could get some gear, which I would've leant...started in, didn't really want any pointers... I keep fishin, made a few more drifts and the guy who turned me on to the fish trap is heading in, and says to me "would you like another one" Hell Yes i would... I tell him to show my buddy his fish and send him back out...I keep fishin hoping my bud will come back out...I'm thinking well, better head back in since he's driving, get in he's all ready changed out of his wet suit, got his yak loaded on his truck, he wanders down and see's my fish and his eyes get real big...like Holy shit and runs back up to his truck changes out again grabs his yak snags 3 lures for our friend in need!!! And puts out like a fire was built under him.... he scores 3 small gophers but was really stoked knowing the fish are there....Dave which is not NCKA and when asked said "whats that" I said just a bunch of fish nuts like you!!! If you fish the Ft Bragg area and are an inquisitive sort you'll meet up with Dave...the guy has commercial fished from a yak...

 It is awesome when you can combine fishing and diving, sounds like a good trip. Bet your buddy is hooked  on the fishing now. Fish traps are my favorite all around lure and they don't cost that much if you break some off.

Yes he is way stoked...tried to get him to go out today but momma said "NO" tomorrow were gona hit it at first light...

Just wish I had a camera to record the trip his "eyes" when he looked at my fish were like platters...and the dash back to his yak...would of made a great vid...I needed Abkings skills for that moment...

It 5" and the dude "Dave" was using 20# seagaur sp? I had 45# and was not getting a good drift and still hooking fish...but Dave was straight down...dude had it wired the color looked to me watermelon top or a darker grn with sliver flake bottom...Dave said that's all he uses and his local ft Bragg clan...and from the results
