The wife and I were on the water at San Carlos beach by 8am and it was like glass.  Just beautiful!  We paddled to the red can and there was that pod of dolphin/porpoise or whatever they were-just incredible!  They were huge!  And they got pretty close to us- a couple even went under us!  Fished for a while and it was pretty slow.  Ended up with 2 Browns about 13 in ea.  Had a momma otter with her babe come in for a close look.  Met Jeff on the water later in the day and gave him the rest of my squid.  Hope you caught more fish than I did! Also met Andy(fishmaster 1) in the parking lot and had a nice chat.  Later we walked to El Torito for a mega margarita and some appetizers.  What a great day!

notuna, is your kayak a Cobra fish n dive? I think my friend and I saw you and your wife this morning. We were in a red Toyota with two blue kayaks in the back. When we drove by you said Hi. Saw Jeff (I think) on the water when we cruised by in the afternoon. Glad to hear you had a nice time today, very nice conditions out there. Not too sure how long it will last

Wow...it must be really exciting to see that many Dolphins coming in close to your kayak.  Thanks for the report and pictures.

Calbear,

yes that was me and my wife Sue wrestling the yaks off my Expedition in the parking lot.  It was my first time fishing Monterey.  Glad to hear others had better fishing in the same area.  The light wind/tide from about 10am-1pm made it hard to hold in one area and all of my hammerheads were too light to get a good feel of the bottom or bite.  Hope to see more of you guys on the water soon.
