there's a really nice pier in Point Arena w/decent fishing for perch and rockfish.

You can launch at the foot of the pier if you're taking the yak, and they launch small boats from the pier via a large hoist. I've never fished from boat or yak there, but the fishing off of the pier and north of the pier along the rocks is fairly good.

Here's a link to some info on the pier, courtesy of Ken Jones from PFIC:

There's a decent restaurant and a pretty good pizza place at point arena cove (near the foot of the pier).

Stengel Beach, just South of Point Arena is worth checking out also.

The restaurant and bar upstairs is closed down. The pizza place and the little coffee shop/tackle/bait is still open, too.

I have caught Lings off the pier as well as Cabezon and Blacks. It is a long haul up from the water to the pier deck. IMO , you need to bring heavy test and strong hooks or a net on a rope to retrieve your catch.

Ya - forgot to mention about the heighth of the pier. We always used a crab net to bring our catch up when fishing there.

That sux that the restaurant closed down.  :smt010  They had bomb calamari.

Word! Friday night sushi was pretty good, too. Hopefully someone will open it up for the summer anyway . . . hoping!
