Anybody have any experience with this reel? I remember a thread awhile back and most people seemed pretty impressed by it on paper, myself included.

Does anybody own one? I fondled one today at Outdoor Pro Shop and it looks and feels pretty sweet, but does that warrant it being $100 more than the Daiwa Saltist I also like?

BTW - It'd be used as a high speed jigging reel for Baja Trip then will be a rockfish/sturgeon reel after.

Appreciate any feedback.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

I've been using the Revo Inshore for both FW bass and rockfish/lings. This is the first low profile reel I've used and I can't say enough about it. It was easy to setup and adjust and seals well against water intrusion. In fact, after taking a bath in the salt water, there wasn't even a drop inside the frame. If you need the incresed line capacity of the Toro, you won't be disappointed.

RH SBD has the smaller inshore and really likes it for the local stuff. The Toro looks like a winner because of the added line capacity. I want one to compare with the Curado300 I have on a Trevala.
The level wind aspect seems to be the weak link when fishing for pelagics. It cuts down casting distance and the failure rate is higher. Most jigging reels are regular conventional. The non levelwind Saltist is a good reel the Saltiga is great.

I have 2 inshores and I absolutely love them.  Normally levelwinds and baja are a bad idea, but I would fish a toro down there, infact i will likely bring one down myself!

Thanks for the info, fellas!

Shimmy - I actually picked up a Saltist 20H and love it so far. I used it up at Shelter Cove, paired with a 7' Lami Tri-Flex. Sweet set-up. It's a non-level wind, but I barely had to guide the line onto it at all. It pretty much deposited the line evenly by itself, which is good for me because I have limited feeling in my left thumb after my little razor blade incident last year.

Sean - I'm probably still gonna pick up a Toro. Hopefully we can both put them to the test in July!
