had a free afternoon, so I thought what the hell why not see what a nightmare it must be up at Berryessa.  To my surprise it wasn't bad at all!  It may be because of the feds shutting down any type of services up there or maybe the cold foggy morning, but I was only harrassed by a few boats and "personal water craft" the entire afternoon.
It was pretty breezy, perhaps steady 15 mph with bigger gusts.  I could see quite quickly that working any sort of structure was going to be impossible.  Instead I tried a large grub and caught a nice smallie and then switched to an expensive version of a deep diving lipless crank bait and worked some deeper water with that, and caught a fish on the first cast and ten or twelve more on top of that.  For the conditions, not a bad days work and only 45 minute drive from home.  By the way the water seems pretty damn low for this time of year!

bought a new Sanyo waterproof video recorder and was monkeying around with a tripod on the back of the yak yesterday.  Wish it had a wider angle lense but I think it might work out in the long run.  No fish on this video just wanted to see how it looked.

Great quality on the vid, Zin.  Keep playing with that and you'll get some good Fish Porn.  You may have to either adjust your angle or practice balancing a fish on your head though!   :smt002

How'd you mount your tripod?  How much was the Sanyo Waterproof?  I'm always researching the latest and greatest in waterproof and want to supplement my camera quiver with a better waterproof than the Olympus has been.  Thx!   :smt001

spent about $400 on a Sanyo Xacti good to 3 meters.  Bought a nice tripod on radioshack.com.  I hooked the bottom hook on the tripod to one of the bungies on the back of my yak, but need to find a better set up.  My icechest was getting in the way a bit, so need to switch to a soft ice chest instead, and perhaps hang that from the bottom hook on the tripod.  I will have to adjust the angle of the danlge a bit but wanted to get a shot of the lake at least!  I like the video quality though, so it coudl work out nice!
