After a disappointing attempt last Friday, Hobie Dave and I are going to hunt the Butts at ARW again this week.  We will launch at around 7:30.  I'm going to skip the expensive live bait this time and try the frozen bait that seemed to work so well for the guys on the party boats last week and the yakers on Sunday. We will monitor channel 69.  Company welcome!  I won't be bringing the usual "home brew" since the refrigerator has hit empty.  I bottled a new batch today but it won't be ready to drink for two weeks.  I guess the celebratory toast will have to be store bought.  As long as we catch the dinner, it's ok to buy the beer.

Darius,
We may not make it Friday afterall.  Dave is unable to make it and I won't fish the Bay solo.
We have Hobie kayaks which are much more costly than the budget you mentioned.

Martin, I will be launching around 7:00am.  Looks like high tide is at 11:36am in the morning.  Should be a nice day.

I'm also free on Friday and will be out in the morning. I'll be on channel 69. I'm also going to try to make live bait Tonight. Depending on who gets bait, do you guys wanna share live bait?

I also plan on going tomorrow after dropping my kid off to school. I'm going to try catching some shiners at the launch ramp near Park Street, then hit over to Rock Wall. Probably launch around 10:30am. My VHF was busted a couple weeks ago at Van Damme, so no radio contact. I'll be on a mango T13.

Does anyone know if I can buy shiners from some place in Oakland? Roughly how much?

Guys,
I'm not going to get bait at Mike's this time.  They don't open until 7:00.  Last week when I fished the rock wall, the guys who were getting the butts were all using frozen bait.  I had live shiners but no luck with the fish.  I'm going to try the frozen Herring this time.  I have a live well for my yak and can bring it if it would help those with the live bait.  It works really well and the bait will last all day.  I'll throw it in the car just in case anybody wants me to transport the live ones.

Thanks for the info Martin / Noodleboy. Frozen bait makes it easy. In fact, the last two times I went to ARW with live shiners I was skunked. Frozen herring it is.

thx,
ernest
