Thanks Sonny (sailfish) for coming on our maiden voyage of clamming and letting us share you equipment to limit out on our clams. :smt002  I felt like a little kid digging for these delicacies with Jed and Joe.  Thanks also for allowing me to keep more than my share of the crabs.  My guest had a blast feasting on them.  I owe you one. You are one cool dude! :smt004

You're welcome.  Now it's my turn to thank you for the tasty Dungeon crabs.  I gave Joe one of them and ate the other for dinner and it's delicious!  I just finished cleaned all the gears and kayak after prepared fresh clam Sashimi for my wife.  She really enjoyed it (more WAF points for me  :smt003).  It's late now so I will post the pictures tomorrow.

Sonny, I also sashimied the  clams,  mmm,,mmmm.good.  my friends were asking for more.  My wife could't make thje chowder tonight but I was able to clean the body and chop them up for soup at a later time.  company left at 12 so I'm too tired to even talk about the shark that's at least 60" that got tangled on my crab net.   :smt003

Thanks for twisting my arm to switch my work share days so I can come
along with you guys Allan. I am so glad I did. What a treat. Thanks again
Sonny for the tips on how to find and dig for clams. I can't believe how
much fun I had getting down and dirty. Wait! that did not sound right.
I meant to say playing in the mud with one arm in about a foot and a
half deep searching for clams. The sashimi you made for us at the beach
was just awesome. Great job Sonny.
Nice meeting you Joe and I hope you decide to buy a kayak so you can
come out and have some fun too.
On my way home I had to stop at that Bait shop off Bodega ave. and
guess who's picture I saw, our very own ravensblack(Craig). Very funny.
Hey yakaro(Joe) thanks for stopping by when you saw my truck and
kayak. Congrats on your abalone bro.

I will include some pictures when I get home from work.

We arrived there around 8:30am and getting ready for another fun day playing with mud :smt003

Jedmo was pumped-up and ready for the action

Arrived to destination at last

Allan quickly learned the ropes and soon got his first clam

Joe (my old friend who's a non yaker but who might soon to be :smt003) searching for more clams

Jedmo determined to get a BIG one

The Seagulls are hanging around waiting for opportunities to get free meals  :smt003

I prepared some "fresh" clam Sashimi with soy sauce and Wasabi on the spot for lunch and it's delicious.  We got our limits around noon and ready to get back

This looks like fun

Joe and Jed had to get back home so Allan and I went to Bodega Bay to get some crabs.  The ocean was calm with slight breeze and we had a good time crabbing.

Allen baiting the crab nets

Time to head out and drop the nets

Allen found some rock crabs in the net

Our first legal Dungie for the day

Allan found a big Sunstar in the net.  One time there's a big Thresher shark caught in the net,  I tried to come over to assist but it got away before I arrived.  I saw the big tail thrashing water and Allan struggled to keep it in the net.  It's happening so fast and I was trying to get there quickly to help didn't have enough time to take a picture!

We found this motorize craft floating and heading toward deep water with no one in it.  So Allen and I paddled over and towed it back to shore.

Not a bad afternoon for crabbing  :smt003

How many species of clams can you catch there? Just gapers?

From my research about clam digging at Tomales, you can find Gaper, Washington, littleneck, Pismo clams, and cockles.  By large, most of the clams we found so far were Gapers.
