My kitten Orion (6mo old now) caught his first rat yesterday! (That we know of) He had it down in our lower yard, (we live in a redwood forest and our yard is basically open forest.) wife saw him playing with something fury and thought it was a baby something or other (squirrel maybe) and wanted me to get it from him before he killed whatever it was.
It was a large brown colored rat.  He hadn't killed it yet, it wasn't tore open or bleeding that I could see, probably just in shock but alive, so I gave it a toss across the creek.  (To keep wife happy) I'm sure he wasn't to happy I took it from him.

Wait till the kitten brings them in the house and puts them either at your feet or in your lap.  Heaven forbid she does it to the wife (Screeeeeeeaaaaaam).

He ran across our front door with yet another something just now, that looked like a fuzzy critter and wife again saw it and told me to go see what it was he had.  Turned out to be what looked like stuffing from an old cushing or fill of somesorts. :smt044  He ran as if it were alive... :smt044
Were both convinced that he was a dog in a past life!

My cat has been on a gopher kick lately.  Found two live ones she brought inside so far, and yesterday she had another one outside the door that I relocated yesterday.

I guess she had to find something now that most of the bluebelly lizards are gone, (except for a few tail-less old-timers).

I had a friend with a Bull Terrier named Bubba who brought an opossum into the house via doggy door and up on to the bed in the middle of the night for mamma...
