My buddy Mike and I fished the Rockwall for the first part of the tide today for nada. We were on the water about 6:00 and fished most of the outgoing and ended up leaving at 10:00 which seemed like slack tide.

Beautiful day out there weather wise but the water did seem a bit muddy. We had one good biter that evicerated my anchovie and escaped early and then a lonely sand shark later in the day but that was it for us.

It seemed slow for most of the boats as well with most we talked to having one fish or no fish. Maybe the bite turned on later when the water started moving again for the incoming.

We did run into fellow NCKA'ers Martin and Dave out there on their hobies. They looked well prepared and had a bakers dozen of live shiners from Mikes. I hope they picked up a couple fish after we left.

It did turn out a bit warm didn't it! I always buy shiners from Mikes bait in oakland. Mike is good people and he always seems to have fresh healthy bait also.

I usually fish Berkeley, how do you get to the rockwall?  Is there a spot to put in?
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Come to Alameda through the tube and continue to the end at Central Ave..  Turn right on Central and continue past Encinal High (Jet in front of school).  Look for a immediate left at the edge of the school, alongside a fence.  Follow this right to the boat ramp.  At the ramp (right side) is the start of the rock wall.

Was nice meeting both Eliot and Mike on the water. Martin and I also had takedowns that didn't stay on. By after noon lots of partyboaters and a few commercial guys converged upon the area. Considering the fleet out in force, very few and smaller fish were observed harvested. Afternoon the wind picked up and made pedaling back quite sloppy. My Hobie Sport"s minor leak became an issue yesterday. I bailed water out quite often. Using advise from Martin, I filled Hobie with water after getting home. Found the leak at the forward drive well. The damage was caused from galling in my pre 2007 hull, mostly done prior to doing the Mirage Drive improvement ChuckE came up with. http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic, I saw on January 23, 2008. I didn't do the 2ND part in the post. "Hobie has a free upgrade kit you just need to ask for it".  dave...
