I was looking to put an anchor on my kayak and was wondering what setup to us? i was planning on the scotty setup, but is a 1.5 pound weight enough to hold in the delta.  Also what is the max, because i dont want it pulling down too bad on the back of my yak
here are a couple main points

1. what weight to use

2. how to release the anchor without turning around

3. is it worth getting the swivel mount
Everybody should have the opportunity to fish

1.5# may be a bit light. You can always attach a 2.5# lead ball (salmon ball) to the end. As for a release I have the standard anchor trolly. For me a piece of cake to anchor off the bow or stern. As for the release I have a plastic cleat mounted to the top of the hull right next to my hip. Simple to tie off and release.

There are quite a few previous threads about anchor setups - do a search for anchor and/or quick release and you should find a ton of info.

I use a 1.5 kg anchor (~3 lbs) in the bay pretty often - like the one in the picture below.  I have never had it budge on me even with some really big tidal movement.  If you are thinking about using it in parts of the delta with fairly slow moving water, this would be more than enough.

But, you may need a bit more weight in the  bigger channels in the delta since the current rips through there pretty good.
