Tried my luck at Oyster Point on Sunday. First time in the bay, first time fishing for Hali's. Family time dictates I go in the morning. The weather was junk, a bit windy and rainy. Guy at the bait shop said only a few boats had gone out. I decided to paddle south against the wind and drift back.

What I have read on this site and should have paid attention to:
"Set up all tackle before you get on the water." I paddled out a bit and decided to bait up. While tying a swivel on with my head down, I got broadsided by a 1ft. squall and ended up in the drink. You gotta be kidding me. Hop back in the yak (my first self rescue a success) and start grabbing everything that is floating. My net was the only thing not attached, so it was donated. Then I started to fish. Trolled and drifted for a bit with no luck so I headed in after about 2 hours.

A bruised ego from the dip, going home with less gear than I came with and wet, but it was nice to get out on the water. Pics are on my other computer but not much to see.

A bruised ego?

I dont think so. You posted your almost yard sale. That tells me you are a humble person. Takes balls.

And you got back in the saddle and kept on fishing. :smt004

If you're not living on the edge - you're taking up too much space!

Good to hear that everything went well except for the net. Good luck on your next
halibut trip.
