Hello all.

Had to cancel my Stillwater opener due to work so I figure I'd hit Folsom this morning for a few hours of peace and quiet. Got to the lake at 6:00am. Raining but no big deal, have neoprene waders and a North Face jacket. Fish four about an hour trying top water, rip baits, and other reaction baits. Nada. Then the depth finder kicked out. Old rechargeable battery not holding a charge.

So I decided to hit the Rock Garden (area just east of Bikes  with senkos. Fished about 10 minutes and got a nice 2+ lb spot. Fish about five minutes more and there's a flash near the southern horizon. I think to myself that's strange, who has a flood light on at 7:30 in the morning. Then BOOM!!!!. First thought - get off the water now. Very next thought, "RATFARTS!!!!!!!  :angryfire:" from Caddyshack. Couple of more booms and I'm in the car heading home. Very short lived trip.

However, just got back from REI and they have Werner Camano carbon-shafted paddles for $199. I had to buy one.

Tight lines.

Bummer about the batteries and lightning but landing a fish and a paddle makes for a fine day in my book.

I knew they had the fibreglass one's for $199 but if you got the Carbon that is an outrageous deal they go for like $340

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

A Carbon Shafted Paddle sounds like the perfect thing to have in a Thunderstorm!

I am new to this yakin, and have a day tripper, aluminum paddle.  WHat would the benefit be of having a fiberglass or carbon, other than being conductive?
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.
