I'm getting anxious to get wet and catch some rock fish and planning to launch a few miles North of Piedras Blancas Lighthouse on Friday 5/1 or Saturday 5/2, weather and waves permitting.  It's a moderate trek to get to the water here.  Who's ready to wet a line?

I just came from San Simeon. The weather there was awesome. We had 3 days of sunshine Fri to Sun.
Only thing that sucked was the wind. Howling at 30+mph after 10am. Crazy white caps there. Lots of thick kelp bed 300 to 500 yards of off the beaches. Kelp beds from San Simeon state park to north of the pier and beyond.

Caught a couple small black & yellow rockfish from the rocks 1/2mile up from the San Sim creek..

I'm heading to Leffingwell on Friday morning. Would be interested in going with you to your launch sometime.

Well I didn't make it out today, and the marine forcast for this weekend doesn't look very inviting with the increasing swell north of Piedras Blancas.  If any of you made it out today, I want to see details and pics so I know what I missed out on today.  Send me an email or PM if you're interested in joining me at one of my launches.  I'd look forward to meeting up with a few more kayak fishing enthusiasts.  We usually catch limits within a couple of hours with some nice reds and lings in the mix.
