Ahh yes. Lemon Lyme disease, first discovered by Swedish physicians Sven Up and Stephen Peter Rite.

Lyme disease is pretty rare around here though, our native fence lizards are an intermediate host for young ticks (they live on a small animal when they're <1mm in size, then a larger animal after growing from the first feeding) and the fence lizards have an antigen in their blood that kills lyme disease bacteria.  If there are enough fence lizards in an area enough of the young ticks are immunized against lyme disease by feeding on lizards that lyme disease can't get established in the tick population.  For that reason, lyme disease usually only occurs in higher elevation parts of northern california where it's too cold for fence lizards to live.  I have lots of lizards in my yard and encourage their presence with a rock garden that provides great lizard habitat.

Black legged ticks always produce a painful purple welt the size of a shirt button, but if that's the extent of it you'll be fine, if it spreads into a classic bullseye/target symbol then it's important to get treated for lyme.  It's fairly common for stubborn people that don't like going to the doctor to ignore the symptoms until fairly severe damage has been done.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

Flights to Mexico are dirt cheap right now but the Flight out is gonna Hurt.

My Sister was down in Cabo till  next Monday and called me Tuesday Morning freaked she said it is worse than they are letting out and She said get me outta here. She had a tough time getting a hold of anyone for a flight out So I booked her fight out and picked her up at 1:15 this morning. They friends she was traveling with were laughing at her saying there is nothing to worry about but they just called her saying it has escalated and they are coming home tonite. Empty house on the Beach,Pool,Hot Tub and Kayaks just outside of Cabo so sad.
