It's been awhile since I've been out fishing, but that's going to change this year. I hit the lake about 9am, a little wind but not too bad. Trolled around the dam with a dodger and a cop-carr for Nada. Try-ed all my spinners, castmaster, Nada decided to take a break and stretch my legs after a couple of hrs paddling. Tossed in a night crawler, and some power bait for a soaking. In about an hour I caught 4 nice planters all on the power bait, I then pcaked up and tried the river below the dam. The water was'nt moving much, I gave it about 1hr for nada.

Good effort Craig.  Did you get any brookies or were they all rainbows?

I've spent many a day on that lake growing up.  It sure is a neat little body of water.

You oughta hook up with Bassmanben, I know he enjoys that area.

Funny, that same scenario has happened to me in the past. I'm more or less certain that it has to do with the diet planter fish are raised on. Now, that being said, who's going to spearhead the natural diet for hatchery fish grassroots movement? Any volunteers? :smt003

I didn't get any Brooke's, but I did talk to a guy who did have a couple he caught off the bank too.  I talked to one guy trolling past, he said he was using a little bit of power bait on the end of his rig.

It's a great area I've spent many a day with my Grandma fishing the Merced Falls area, and lake Yosemite in Merced. (Going to Grandma's as a kid usually meant a fishing trip)
