GO SEE THIS MOVIE!  It was a very well done documentary of the devistation of our once great rivers. The inerviews of the old time anglers, the true pioneers of what many of us enjoy today... were great! A couple of young aspiring directors put this project together and stay after to take questions. It's playing at the Rialto Theatre in Santa Rosa on Summerfield dr. It's playing Tuesday 4:30 and again at 7pm. Get out there and support this film.

Glynn, I can't wait. I see it tomorrow, 1st showing.
I hope I don't feel too sad knowing I'm too late for what used to be a wondeful thing.
Also, I'm already sad knowing it won't be that way again, no matter what is done now.
Too many humans, IMHO.

The Eel might make you cry  Juan....  :smt010 Pretty cool to see some of the holes then,  and to think about the history of some of your favorite holes tho.... What happened for 100 thousand years gone in less than 100... :smt011

Just got out of the Movie Very well Done brings back a lot of memories and familiar faces, really sad the way the fishery has declined.
Makes me really appreciate every fish I catch and fishing with a bunch of you guys that care about the resource not just how many fish they can kill.

If one was to offer me a trip back in time with a flyrod, with my soul as payment, I'd hit the Eel in its' heyday. I'd trade anything for that opp.
I've been fortunate to fish with some of these guys in the last couple of years.
Ben Taylor is a Smith regular. First time I rowed out to the "hog line," and tried to anchor amongst the supreme beings, I bumped his pram. I was mortified! He didn't smile back at me, mortify me some more! Many trips and seasons later I felt I had payed my dues when he offered me congrats on a fly-caught King.
R. Chatham said that picking up and cradling a heavy King, as you are about to set it free, makes you really acknowledge their incredible being. So damn true!!
Many things these guys said ring true with me, we are alike in our love of these creatures.

I asked (I'm blanking on his name) what year Bill passed and he said 95' I was taken back, because it only seemed like a few years ago when I last spoke to him on the Chetco the last season he was here. everyone one knew he was battling cancer that year. It was a wierd feeling knowing that would be the last time I would spend time with that man... Had many educational and funny times around him. He was Sooooo poor monitarily, but so rich in other ways. One time I was up on the Smith waiting to launch my pram on the Baily hole. I was parked up on the top of the ramp off to the side with my parking lights on. Bill comes backing up with a car full to the brim with crap. Turns right into my truck, Bam! I yelled out but he never heard me. He gets out looks at my truck and says, " I hope ya got insurance kid, cause I don't"  :smt005 All I could do was shake my head and smile. The tailgate never closed right after that, but it made me think of him everytime I had to slam it to close it... He was a charater for sure. You could sense the love for the guy in all the guys they interviewed in that film. He wrote the book on being a "fish bum" Scratch that "Fish Addict" Juan, funny you mentioned bumping into that guy and he never said a thing. It took about three years of fishing around Bill before he'd even say hi to me. Dues must be payed in full in, advance!... :smt002
