Went out to the Delta during the heatwave we just had last week. I nearly melted!!! :smt010 I figured the heat would turn em on. They've been bouncing back and forth with the constant water temp flux. First day I gutted out the heat all day and only got one bite, but what a bite it was. Came up with a beauty, 22.25"es. I asked the guy at the fishing store how much he'd guess she would weigh, and he said between 8-10lbs depending on her girth. I was figuring around 8 myself. (Hobieblue,  yer estimate..?)I went out there for a hog to post for AOTY and got what I came for!  :smt003 Next day was even hotter!!! I ended up taking a break for a from 4:30-5:30 supped down a couple beers in the shade and then got back out there till dark. I ended up hooking about 8-9 fish for the day including 4 blowups on a frog the last hour of the day. Biggest fish that day was about a 5lber, but I lost one that looked 10. Saw her in the shallows before I hooked her. One quick thrash on top took care of that!! :smt005 It was fun checking out new places. The sunset was awsome! Fishing the Delta is sure a different experience. Takes you back in time. The first night I got there I didn't fish, I just enjoyed a galss of wine and watched listened to all the birds, saw a few fish bust and heard some coyoties howeling. Some times the best momments are best just observed...and enjoyed... :smt002

Awesome bass..WTG Jonesz!

It looks like an 8 pounder to me for sure, and maybe bigger.

It is great to see some top water action start up as well...I'm looking forward to that phase of the bass bite heating up too!
