my brother is still here on vacation, we took the big boat out to dux yesterday, we got a 14lb and a 23lb salmon, lost another at the boat.
on the way back we anchored in the south bay and caught some sharks.

hey mooch that 23lb salmon looked like a sea monster, hook jaws and fat belly, i could not believe it was only 23 lbs. your fish must have been enormous. when are you leaving for mendo? i got the salmon trolling big herring in a fbr, we got 3 salmon[in the ocean on fbr] and 3 stripers[in the bay on rattletraps] one day last week. it is too bad he is leaving sat. it would have been great to get him in the tournament.
the really good news is i now take my big boat in the ocean[my first experience left me shell shock]. i really enjoyed it out there, of course it is still not as cool as going out in my kayak, but it is a lot easier to catch salmon!

cp - that 27 pounder I caught was a monster....even Stu mentioned that the pics did not do it any justice. The hardest part was trying to get it on the yak (while it was still bucking like a crazy horse) without flipping over. (Stuart did not help the cause by yelling "SEA LION" while I was netting the fish  :smt076 ) The week after, I caught the 24 pounder and I learned my lesson from the previous experience - by knocking the fish out with a "fish-be-cool" stick BEFORE pulling it over the deck  :smt002

I'm leaving for Mendo tomorrow morning - 5AM. I'll be driving by myself but will be meeting Chuck (and Bill) at his place in San Leandro. We are loading up my truck with a BBQ grill and some firewood - and then we convoy to Mendo. Bill will be carpooling with Chuck.

Glad you had a successful trip out in the Ocean! I'd like to chip in with some gas money if you can take me out for a White Shark watching trip at Ano Nuevo. I'm dying to see one up close  :smt007 Maybe we can take Bill and use him as a decoy  :smt077
