I bought a bucket of the rootbeer colored Gulp Alive grubs last year, and I find they work better than cut squid. for fishing the rocks from shore, I like to put 'em on a small jig head about 1 ounce in weight and swim it next to rock over hangs and in openings in the kelp.  I also like to use them as a teaser on a hook tied to a dropper loop about 2 ft. above a jig for deeper water rock fishing.  I have also used the Gulp Saltwater cut bait on the hook of a jig, just to give it some scent and it stays on the hook longer than squid.  The stuff has worked well for me and I'll be buying more of it.
