I got an old small boat trailer that I'll be rigging for kayaks.  I'll be pullling it with a CRV, not the most gutsy car in the world but I'm assured by the dealer it will pull 1500lbs.  Enough for kayak stuff.

So in the Santa-Rosa, Ukiah, Willits area, where does someone go to have a trailer hitch put on a small car like that (and get a decent deal).  Or is it something to do myself?

Most of the U-haul rental offices will install a trailer hitch for you for a reasonable fee.  If you have time and want to save some $$ then should DIY.

If you decide to DIY and need some guideline.  Do a web search on: "How to install a trailer hitch?"  Below is one of the link on this subject:

Second U-haul as a good source for hitches, as I remember mine came with some pretty good directions.

Dave it's super easy I put one on the wife's car U-Haul wanted like $300 for the hitch and plug I did it for less than $100. Some of the hitches are harder than others, mine is a Putnam 55181 here are the instructions http://www.putnamhitch.com/55000_pdf/55181%20Installation%20Instructions.pdf

I ordered it from a Horse Trailer Supply in Sebastapol and it was $74.99 plus the plug for the lights was $16.99 cheaper than I could find it online. My CRV is a 2002
