Funny yah its a secret stealthy approach-- actually, in really heavy current i like facing forward anyway if its light then rearward.  I find that current at your backside means the rear digs a bit, and i seem to get more water pumping through my scuppers onto my backside....
My tuna boat is dry but with the way that current rips out there I keep looking back to make sure something (like a tree) isn't crawling up my anchor line to sink me. I keep thinking of ChuckE's wet surprise. My yak tends to want to plane askew and churn the water.

The Sea Dogs look pretty nice.  I suspect the basic function is the same in comparison to the Toe Pilots.  Main difference is probably durability.  The Sea Dogs look like and all plastic construction and the Toe Pilot mounting shaft is an aluminum channel so its very strong--but also gonna be heavier than the Sea Dog.

I've been using the sea dogs for several months now.  No complaints.  They work great and eventhough they are largely heavy duty plastic construction (with some metal inside), they are holding up very well even with my big size 13's.  I'd recommend them to anyone.
