Tried my local lake again, OTW 7am, looking for bass and (mutant) trout. Bass were quiet and the Lassie's wouldn't bite, so after 5 hrs of Senko's, drifting Gulp baits and trolling lures, I gave up and headed back.

Since the launch was into the wind, I picked up the paddling pace and went faster than normal for trolling, even though my lures were still in the drink. About halfway back I got the mother of all strikes on this tiny little Snap Bean lure, going about 2 1/2 mph. Unbelievable, the famed Hail Mary pass play. Fortunately, I brought my halibut net this time, having lost a big one in this same lake with my little fly fishing net last month. In she went!

Personal Best Lassie (Lassen planter, not exactly a trout, but looks like a big rainbow), at 7 lb, 10 oz. Those of you who've been skunked there like I have will recognize the lake from a clue in the photos. It put a smile on my face...

Yep, that tower is a dead giveaway. Good job on the nice size planter. They've been pulling some hefty ones outta there this year.

Nice fish and great report Andy,

So did it take you all of 15 minutes to get there...20 minutes if you stopped at Noah's Bagels on Mt. Diablo?  Yeah, I've had my share of getting skunked there as well but am glad to see that persistence pays off eventually.

Local Lake Lunker Lassie Likes Little Lure? LLLLLLL...... Chabot?

Nice fish. I pulled a couple of Lassens out of there from the shore before Christmas, they are very picky.

Very nice fish there Andy. Congrats on the trout. I have caught my personal best
trout there 11 years ago. I came back this year and fished there for six hours but
no luck.

Nice fish, the tower was a give away, starring you down as you get no bites.  That lake is a tough one-Glad your persistence paid off.

I worship you!
WTTroll up one of those from THERE!!  it must have been starving on the inside to have had to resort to chasing something that swims and then to actually try to bite&swallow it too?...dude!   :smt003
