I finally found the right ff for me.  Last month I tried Humminbird's 717, which blacked out on me on my first trip out.  I sent it back to Amazon for a refund, pronto.
Last week I took the 587ci on its maiden voyage out to sea.  The clairity of structure is truly amazing.  The gps has a birds eye view as well.  For extra cash you can up grade for a map card, the original map is fine for me.  Yes, it's a pricey ff at $440 through Amazon, but in reality it's far less than what I paid for my home tv, and I plan on watching my ff more than sitting around watching the tube.

Thanks for the feedback, I may have some questions later, glad you're happy with your purchase.

Once you go color, you never go back! Bring a blank 2gb SD card with you on your next trip, put it in the slot and record a good drop off to view later and study.
