So same as the last two weeks, met up with shicken around 830, on the water by 9

I was really kind of goofing around today.  I tried to scratch up live bait for a while, took me way too long but I really didn't feel like trolling.

Couple of other suspects out there, Dukkie and SurfHunter + Shannon

Finally got a few pieces of bait and set out trolling for a while.  Didn't get anything.  Around 1PM shicken got hungry and headed in for a short break.  I took the opportunity to go inspect a guy on a funny looking kayak.  I paddled out and met a man named ernie on a catamaran type kayak.  He called it a kiwi kayak and i think it was made by stearns.

anyways, while me and ernie were shooting the sh*t together, my rod with a live smelt on it goes ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ pauses for 1/2 second then ZZZZZZZZZZZ a completely different direction!  I had not had a fish take my line that hard in, ever. this fish was a freakin torpedo!

Only one problem, the fish had gone directly underneath ernies line, and I was worried about getting tangled.  Of course being an idiot, I tried to get out of the tangle instead of fighting the fish.  By the time I got free, it was gone   :smt011 I think either it did not get the hooks or it ran at me just as I was getting out of the tangle and unbuttoned with the slack.  I am sure it was either a striper or a hali, and i'm sure it was BIG. Probably 20lbs+ whatever it was.  Not knowing what it was is going to bug me for a really long time.

Didn't get anything else and me and shicken headed back.

Some boats got a few but definitely not as hot as the week before.  Much lighter traffic out there, and spectacular weather again!

You don't always get to see what's giving you the thrill, and it does make for many many nights of thinking about it as you try to sleep.  Try to keep it as an inspiration rather than a heartbreaker.   :smt001

Yup, skunkaroooooo, it was great seeing you all again.  I swear, Shannon and i were talking and we came to the conclusion that unless the weather is making us suffer a bit, we never catch anything.  :smt011

Thanks for the report Ben. I wanted to join you guys yesterday but I had already
committed to the MMD. Anyhow, you folks luck out on a great weather. Too bad
for the lack of fish.

Don't sweat it Ben, remember the golden rule;

You didn't see it.....
.....therefore.......
.....it was a batray.

I have seen the catamaran kayak guy out there as well, his ride looked like fun.

Sorry to hear about the dissapearing screamer.  You guys have been putting a lot of work in out there, I am sure it will pay off.

Better luck next time, I bet it got your heart pumping pretty good though...

Man, I've had a few 50lb lings that I never saw. Those are what keep me going back!
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...
