I caught three cats that day - all black approximately 24-inches long.  Never met a friendly one on the water...stayed in the kayak for a loooong time...

I should report on weather and line?

Fly: Adams

What did you use for bait to catch the cats?  :smt003

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

I was fishing one side of the lake when I saw one come down to the water to get a drink. I paddled quietly to where the cat was thinking it would never let me get that close.  I really didn't think that one would climb onto the boat without any coaxing... but it did.  Then I saw two others up the hill that promptly came down and hopped into the boat as well. I called out to my fishing buddy who was halfway down the lake to come check out the cats on my boat.  He paddled up beside me and two of the cats transferred over to his yak. I was about 50 yards from shore when the one cat on my kayak became bored and bailed off the boat.  He swam to shore and dried himself off.  My buddy nosed his boat up on the shore and his cats jumped off.  Those three cats followed us up and down the bank the rest of day.

I should have taken them home.

That is the coolest story I have heard in a long time.  I am dog lover, but in this case I would make an exception for the kayak cats...or should it be kayak kats!  Thanks so much for the story and the pictures, it would have been unbelievable without the pics! :smt023

It's all pretty amazing but that part is unbelievable! A domestic (feral or not) cat voluntarily jumping into the water...shocking!  :smt004
Great cat (fish) tale.  :smt003

Wow. Even more so now that I've heard the story.

I love cats. That would be an honor to be adopted by them!

That's hilarious.

My cat always jumps on my yak, checking stuff out when I'm in the yard cleaning gear or rigging something...  It would be a trip to actually yak with a cat, (or two).
