haha Matt, you did indeed sense it.  Adam has a love/hate relationship with that lake.  right now it's just hate.

After the way the fishing turned out last weekend I can't blame him.  :smt009

I had MANY looong brotherly talks with Adam regarding his negativity :smt011

Here are the Mooch rules regarding fishing....

1) CONFIDENCE is the key ingredient of successful fishing. If there is water, there is fish. (keep telling yourself that till you reach rule # 7 )

2) If a certain lure or bait is not producing....change it and keep changing it till it produces....

3) If you've presented all your lures or bait with no joy, then you're not buying the right lure or bait....

4) If you feel confident about your lure or bait selection and your still not getting any love....it simply means that fish are not hungry. It happens - trust me. Simply give your self a time out and have a spam sandwich (or spam musubi)....then clock in again and keep fishing...persistence pays.

5) If you still can't catch 'em after clocking in, perhaps your fishing on the wrong side of the lake....fish the area where the wind is blowing to (fish food is pushed to this area by wind and current)....

6) If you've tried everything and everywhere, yet you see others are catching, tell yourself "those bastards are just unskilled and extremely lucky"....

7) After a long day of "fishing" and you still feel that you can't even catch a disease if you wanted...then tell yourself that there are simply no fish is this particular body of water.... :smt002

I was very surprised to see that this post got so many responses, my last one only got a couple and the one before that got none.

I am not holding out and would like to see you all get fish.

Here's the Beta on Del Valle right now (.i.e., a summary of my posts)

1) Get on the water early (be in line at the gate) and head to Heron bay.  Stay to the left of the dam.

2) Troll in 20 - 90 ft of water out about 30 - 50 pulls and use a watermelon-colored Seps dodger

3) Attach a snelled hook to the dodger, nothing else.

4) Stick a nightcrawler on the hook so that the hook is pretty much covered up (1/2 - 3/4 of a worm).

5) Make sure that your set up runs true.

6)  Bring a big net with a long handle.

7) This seems to work at a lot of the other local reservoirs also.

Mooch-Thanks for the wise words.  I usually fish hard and switch up baits, but my favorite is number 7.  This is usually what I fall back on as I leave, "There are no F---ing fish in this lake!"

DanMan-Thanks for the pointers, I will have to give your methods a good try next time I go out.  Anything not to have to fall back on powerbait.  :smt011
